THE HISTORY OF COMPASSIONATE WOMEN OUTREACH MINISTRY (COMPASSIONATE WOMAN ORPHANAGE HOME)
Compassionate women outreach ministry is a great assignment from the Lord. It was not manmade, neither was it a choice, but God’s specific assignment to Rev Dr. Alice Zuriel Ononuju and her husband. The lord directed Mrs. Alice Zuriel Ononuju to go into the ministry of caring for the downtrodden, the poor, the widows, the orphans, motherless babies, the abandoned children and people with great needs even when she had no money for that. When she asked the Lord “why and how? Seeing that I have no money, but the Lord said to her, “I will make it for you, because if give a vision, I will make the provision” said the LORD. This vision, burden and the revelation from the lord started in 1990, just seven years after her marriage without a child yet. God said to her that her children will come as a result of her caring to other helpless children. Based on this promise of God, she started giving money and other helps to orphanage homes, but God said to her, this is not what I called you for, you must have an orphanage home where children and helpless people shall be cared for. She then joined some orphanage homes and started working with them and brought her own money to support them, but God said to her, if you need your own children you must do the great work of compassion by establishing an orphanage home where the abandoned children, motherless children, the orphans and where the less privileged children shall be cared for.
After long battle with the lord, her husband said to her, “we can’t run away from the lords assignment if we want to live and survive, the lord has called us for compassionate business lets go on. It was the Lord that gave her the name “COMPASSIONATE WOMEN OUTREACH MINISTRY” from where she also got compassionate woman orphanage home. The miracles started when she made up her mind to obey the lords assignment and started in a smaller way that the Lord opened her womb and blessed her with a baby girl and after which she had other children after thirteen years of childlessness. Rev Dr Alice Zuriel Ononuju presently has four children Adiel Ononuju (undergraduate as at 2017), Uriel Ononuju (undergraduate as at 2018) Amiel Ononuju (undergraduate as at 2019) and Eliel Ononuju (a pupil as at 2017). These four children are the mixture of two boys and two girls. We now discover that when we obey God, that God in turn fulfill his promises to us. Compassionate women outreach ministry was privately established in 1996, but the compassionate women orphanage home was established in 2005. This orphanage home stands as the best, most spiritual and the most trust worthy orphanage in this part of the world, praise God.
Nevertheless, we must also emphasize that between 1980 and 1981, before the marriage of Dr Alice Zuriel Ononuju, that God called her on full time service as gospel minister to work for Him in the gospel field in the department of children ministry. In partial fulfillment of this divine call, Alice Zuriel picked up Sunday school teaching in the department of children evangelism.
God loves this, but never the real calling. She tried so much to please God by caring for children and for loving children ministries with visible contributions and helps to children of different conditions, still these were not the call, neither the full assignments from the lord. Her love, compassion and interest in children, especially the orphans and the deformed children contributed much in the establishment of the compassionate women outreach ministry (compassionate woman orphanage home). Irrespective of her love and compassion on children, it was too hard for her to accept the ministry of the orphanage because of money involved in establishing, funding and keeping the home, but God appeared to her and said “RELAX I AM IN CONTROL” It was this assurance of the lord that encouraged her to initially start the orphanage home. Today this orphanage home stands as the best and as the most godly orphanage in this part of the world. The motto of compassionate women outreach ministry is “Relax God is in control”. (a) The name of the ministry shall be known as “COMPASSIONATE WOMEN OUTREACH MINISTRY” (hereinafter called COWOM)

All members of the ministry recognize the fact that the works of the ministry is that of charity and as such all the members are volunteers who are desirous to help those in want and need. Besides it is open to every person, tribe, race or nationality, church or other Christian, charitable organizations or bodies that share the aims and objectives of COWOM. WHO ARE THE PEOPLE EMMA AND ALICE ZURIEL ONONUJU?
This question may pose doubt in the minds of those who may come across it. Yes! Not even a little doubt. Emma and Zuriel are husband and wife (couple). The two simple humble and sincere believers got married in 1983 at Port Harcourt Rivers State Nigeria. Emma the husband of Alice Zuriel was saved in November 1974, while his wife was saved in the late 1979 at Port-Harcourt also in the very local church where Emma was already a called man of God. Both of them have exhibited life, sincerity, spiritual gifts, zeal and public ministrations before coming together as a couple.
THEIR WORKING EXPERIENCES
Mrs. Alzuriel had worked in different companies at Port-Harcourt and at Aba Abia State and finally served as a management personnel, while her husband Emma has served in different companies and finally taught in government universities in the department of history before facing the full time work in God’s business. Though, both of them have served as pastors for almost forty (40) years as at the time of writing this profile. They have served in Bible Missionary church as both local church pastors and district superintendents before they resigned to establish El Theological college and other related ministries as you see them today.
MINISTRY BURDENS
The couple has great burden for the perish souls, the unsaved communities, orphans, abandoned babies in the street, the poor, the less privileged and the poor widows in the towns and villages, thus, they established different related ministries to meet and to care for such needs and to care for the people. Since the birth of these ministries and institutions God has been using them to care, to provide and to feed the people. God has always proved Himself faithful in the ministries of Emma and Zuriel Ononuju and they are always calling on love spirited hearts and individuals with burdens to support their ministries and to help them succeed in their divine assignments of nonprofit making ministries.
OTHER OUTREACH MINISTRIES
Rev Prof Emma Ononuju and his wife Rev Dr. Mrs. Alice Zuriel Ononuju are known as soul winners. Evangelists and conference speakers. They are often engaged in interdenominational revivals, crusades, conference ministrations and missionary activities. They have burdens for the perishing souls. Muslim communities Hindus communities, heathen communities, Christian communities, rural dwellers and all unchurched and poor rural dwellers and God has been granting them the opportunities and open doors to share the gospel with the communities. They have travelled wide across nations with the gospel of Jesus Christ. They have some non Christian countries to cover in the next four years if the lord tarries. Among them are African countries which include Chad Republic, Niger Republic, Senegal, Democratic Rep of Congo, Gambia, Central African Rep, Sudan and Mali. Shown below are the practical ministries of the couples and their ministry burdens.
INTRODUCTION TO THEIR MINISTRIES
Rev Prof & Rev Alice Zuriel Ononuju have been ministers for about twenty eight years. The couple often see nothing but Jesus who was crucified. This little introduction is all about their ministries and what the lord can do and what God will continue doing. The couple started as local church pastors under BMC Nigeria Inc. they have pastured and built many children, their first pastorate was at BMC Diobu as assistant pastor and later to BMC Eneka, Rumomasi, Elelenwo all in Port-Harcourt, they later went to BMC 136 Cameroun Road Aba, BMC Asaokpuaja all in Aba, and later to BMC Amuzukwu Umuahia, 2nd time and finally to BMC Port-Harcourt Road church Aba, under the Bible missionary church, Nigeria Inc.
They served as both senior pastors and later to the office of the district superintendent of Umuahia section and also over as the district of BMC over rail Aba respectively and was a conference speaker and a notable Christian leader in Nigeria. He is the author of more than fifty eight (58) books. The vision, zeal and burden to go higher became so much in 1992 but materialized in 2000 when they fully abandoned both secular teachings in the university to establish El Emancipation Ministry, El Theological college, Redemption Campaigners, International Institute of Missions and compassionate Women Outreach Ministry (an orphanage home).
As you read on, you will discover the hand of God, passion of God and the love of God working and persuading them. The Ononuju’s believe that no one can fully and successfully work for God without enough love, zeal, vision and wisdom of God. It must be recalled also that God used them wonderfully to establish many churches under the BMC Nigeria, below are those churches they established without any aid from man. BMC Igwurunta, BMC Ebube, BMC Isiokpo, BMC Rainbow town, BMC Nchia Eleme, BMC Obigbo, BMC Worji housing estate, BMC Amapuife, BMC Umuocheala, BMC Awa Oguta and BMC Abayi which he restored when it collapsed. They are the crusade preachers to establish BMC Arondizuogu Aba. It was in the year 2000 that the lord spoke to them to go higher for greater works for the lord, since then, the lord has been using them to establish the following ministries (all to the glory of God).
